What if I can't afford to do a course?
If you live on a pension, a drought-stricken farm, in a third world country or in a situation that you feel justifies our support.  If you intend to openly share your learning experience you can apply for one of our limited full or part scholarships with Permaculture Visions. Email us. Alternatively, If you live in the Southern Sydney region and are willing to work in exchange for your course we may have a placement available for you.

Previous Scholarship Winners
Previous Full scholarships have been allocated to several people working in Third World Countries and remote Outback Aboriginal Communities.
Half scholarships have been granted to people on pensions, living with disabilities, or on drought declared properties.

Advanced Standing
If you elect to study for the Introductory course first, you are granted advanced standing and fee credit if and when you decide to study further for the Permaculture Design Certificate with Permaculture Visions. To Qualify for The Permaculture Refresher course you must hold PDC certificate gained through any certifying body.

Postage, Credit Card Payments and Taxes: Postage is included in fee. GST is not currently applicable.

Free File Downloads. The password-protected files are available online ready for you to access at any time. They require an adobe reader which is available for free. This delivery mode saves time and the environment by cutting postage and handling, paper, ink and CD's.  There are no additional costs incurred and you can print out relevant text.

STEP 4. Complete The Student Acknowledgement and Agreement:

We agree that we will not photocopy or copy the course notes as provided by Permaculture Visions for the assistance in our study of Permaculture.
Where appropriate, we will ensure that Permaculture Visions is acknowledged as the source of the information.
When, as a graduate, we operate as Permaculture Designers we are free to use the Client Site Analysis Documents as our own and acknowledge that Permaculture Visions also uses these documents in their designs and offers them to assist student designers.
We understand that our homework notes may be shared as a positive example to other students. We acknowledge that the information provided by Permaculture Visions is provided in good faith and is only offered as a guide. We will seek professional advice on structures, water-ways, animal and community safety, local law, medical and veterinary problems where appropriate.

* MOST IMPORTANT - Formal Qualifications in permaculture [PDC after your name] in designing and teaching. Your name will be registered with the Permaculture Institute.
* Course Fees cover: Your comprehensive Course notes; all postage (ours - with the exception of overseas students), our fax or Email to you; unlimited personalised feedback (for correspondence by mail); costs of meeting specific research requests and advice; Reasonable phone time for urgent queries is also supplied.
There are no hidden costs. The only ongoing costs incurred should be postage and your stationary. Some students supply photos to their tutors - this is entirely optional.

REFUND POLICY: Your fees are partial contribution to the cost of producing and maintaing the comprehensive course notes, and the demonstration site which helps illustrate the course notes. All funds are committed to promoting permaculture.  We rely heavily on voluteer staff. Once a student has received the course notes in full, no refund can be offered. Tuition is supplied free of charge.
 


Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: When do I start? is there a set starting date?
A:  There is no specified starting date, you start when you are ready and learn at your own pace, there is unlimited tutor support time and you can complete the courses as quickly as 2 weeks or as slowly as 2 years.

Q: How long does the course take? What are the hours?
A:  The Permaculture Design Course is a 72 hour course. You have unlimited time in which to do the course although we try to keep you studying regularly. You choose your hours and pace your learning. You send your tutor answers to the suggested homework tasks as you complete them and your tutor writes back with advise and support. This communication is via email or snail mail, you choose which one suits you best.

Q: Is the course suitable for my country and climate?
A: Students are encouraged to explore their local region, the fauna and the people, the soil and the natural resources.  There is course material from Australia, USA, from The antartic to tropics.  Many students have made contributions and their experience has been incorporated into the course material. You are also invited to joing our student mailing list which gives you access to other students and graduates online.

Q: What if I find it hard to write about myself and imagine a permaculture system where I live?
A:  Self directed learning may be a new experience, we have all the support and encouragement to get you started.  However, It is up to each student to make the best of this resource.  We are achieving the permaculture goal of working where it counts, working with committed students that are ready to make a change.  We encourage you to explore  your community, to link up with other groups and like-minded people, we sometimes get the chance to assist directly in linking students to permaculture associations and demonstration gardens.  Our resource is unique in that it gives the students a global perspective of permaculture, and has a diverse and interesting student population. We currently have students in 30 countries.

Permaculture is a lifestyle, not just a philosophy.
