Rediscover Connection – Convergence in Bega 23-25th October

Imagine a gathering where you get to chat with people who are designing, building and nurturing permaculture spaces. Soon the Bioregional convergence will have you asking questions, observing how things work and practice at implementing strategies. Permaculture is a mature movement with a lot of great achievements, energy and networks. Convergences are one of our great care-of-people tools.

Enjoy A Full Day of Tours

Tour. Be inspired.

The conference begins with an incredible line up of tours on the Friday where you can see mature permaculture sites with friendly practitioners who are kind and sharing. Enjoy a full day of tours of farms, urban spaces, multigenerational co-living spaces, eco-community, shared resources and seed swappers. So much to see in one day. The Bega region has a lot of great pioneers.

When we brought our fledgling permaculture plans to life, we were fortunate to learn from the people around us. They shared practical knowledge ranging from little details—like how to lay cardboard for no-dig gardens without leaving the soil underneath lifeless. But, perhaps more importantly, key figures like Stuart B Hill showed us the people-care side of permaculture. We learned not only through their words, but by watching, participating and experiencing what it meant to care for people as much as the earth. Convergences with site tours are an enriching experience.

Connect.

The South East Bioregional Permaculture Convergence 2026 is a three-day community gathering to be held over the weekend of 23-25th October 2026 at Mumbulla School, and BEND (Bega Environment and Neighbourhood Development) in the central location of Bega township in the lush southern coast of NSW, Australia.

This special event ‘brings together permaculture practitioners, food producers, First Nations knowledge holders, and people interested in regenerative living across our broad bioregion— from Wollongong in the north, inland to Canberra, and south into Victoria’.

Discuss.

Unlike conferences with set agendas and key note speakers, and little room to connect, this event will be shaped by every person who joins. So, “bring your experience, curiosity and ideas to contribute to hands-on workshops, thoughtful discussions and collective learning” say the organisers.

Network.

“The vision is a grassroots, low-cost, family-friendly convergence — grounded in this place, nourished by locally grown food, and run as a zero-waste event. Entry fees will cover costs only. Run in the spirit of early permaculture convergences: open, community-led, and energised by participation and volunteerism.

Skill-Share.

We have much in common and lots to share. Three days of skill-sharing, two nights of accommodation and all meals included in your ticket. This event is a chance to connect, learn and play.

Friday 23rd – Sunday 25th October 2026
